This Week on the Whole Wide World

by Marisa Frydman

There is only one word I can think of to descibe the events of this past week: Unbelievable. Hurricane Sandy forced itself upon the Northeast, causing serious damage to communities in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut as well as other areas in our region. We at the Whole Wide World and WFUV want to send our hearts, minds, and prayers out to anyone who has felt the horrible effects of this disaster. We stand with you.

With that said, we have some great music on the show tonight. We'll be airing "Old Ideas with New Friends," a special documentary based on the music of Leonard Cohen and the artists that he has influenced today. Also stick around to hear cool collaborations from David Bowie with Arcade Fire and Beck with Bat For Lashes, as well as great tunes from Alabama Shakes, Bill Withers, and Gary Clark Jr. All of this and more, beginning at 7:00pm tonight.
