Tonight On the Whole Wide World: Cold Specks!

by Tim Pierson

Tonight on The Whole Wide World Rita Houston spins a mix of great stuff both new and old. From brand new Mumford and Sons to classic Nat King Cole, tonight's show really runs the musical gamut. The show will also feature a live session from a new artist. Cold Specks, the stage name of London-based, Canadian singer-songwriter Al Spx, stopped by Studio A earlier this week to talk with Rita Houston about her forthcoming album I Predict A Graceful Expulsion. A very humble, softspoken, even a bit quirky young woman began to speak. After the first interview segment, none of us in the control room were expecting to hear what came out when she picked up her guitar and stepped up to the mic to play the first live track. As soon as she began to sing, everyone in the control room, a group of people hardened by working countless live sessions, grew silent. It was a vocal performance like none I have ever heard. There is something truly special about Cold Specks which I felt the other day. Tune in tonight to hear for yourself!
