It's that time of year, where all roads point to Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, and FUV has a way for you to enjoy the music and avoid the traffic. FUV is headed to the Newport Folk Festival with NPR Music again this year, and not only are we broadcasting live from the sold-out festival all day this Saturday and Sunday—we're kicking things off with a Friday night set by Wilco.
You can tune in at 90.7FM or online, and also keep an eye on wfuv.org for a video webcast. Check out broadcast schedule details below, and take a listen to a Newport Folk Festival preview mix from Folk Alley and NPR Music.
Headed to Newport this weekend? Stop by the FUV and NPR Music tents and say hi! (Now let's all start thinking good weather thoughts...)
Friday, July 27th at 7:30pm
After spending most of this week in NYC, Wilco kicks off the 2012 Newport Folk Festival with a special Friday night set. FUV's Rita Houston and NPR Music's Bob Boilen bring it to the radio at 7:30pm. If you want some live music a little earlier, we'll link to NPR Music's webcast of openers Megafaun and Blitzen Trapper, starting at 5pm.
Saturday, July 28th & Sunday, July 29th from Noon-8pm
With the festival adding a fourth stage this year, there's going to be more music than we know what to do with. (It's a really tough problem to have, I know). Your tour guides this year? FUV's Rita Houston and Alisa Ali, and NPR Music's Bob Boilen.
