Question of the Day: Heavy Accents

by Corny O'Connell
Warner Bros.

Theater geeks know that today is Eliza Doolittle Day. In My Fair Lady the cockney flower girl learning to speak like a lady sings:

One evening the king will say,
'Oh Liza, old thing,
I want all of England your praises to sing.
Next week on the twentieth of May,
I proclaim Liza Doolittle Day.'

So today we want heavy accents in song. Of course, one man's accent is another man's native way of speaking. So we'll leave it to the ear of the beholder. Put your suggestions in the comments below and we'll spin a set after 9am.

Here's what we played:

The Velvet Underground & Nico "I'll Be Your Mirror"

Frightened Rabbit "Swim Until You Can't See Land"

The Rolling Stones "Far Away Eyes"

Squeeze "Cool for Cats"
