Maya Sargent is the current graduate fellow at WFUV. Day-to-day, she assists the News Editor and Director at the station, produces, hosts, and mixes episodes of the daily "What's What" podcast, helps manage the newsroom, and reports her own stories.
Her short-form audio features can best be described as general assignment reporting as she covers a range of issues affecting residents in the Tri-State from healthcare and education, to food insecurity and culture.
Maya also loves long-form podcasts. She is the creator, host, producer, and editor of WFUV's "Urban Tales" podcast which interviews young entrepreneurs who moved to New York City to develop their business. "Urban Tales" has recently been awarded a Gracie Award by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation.
Although Maya calls WFUV her second home, when she's not at the station she enjoys exploring the city, thrift shopping, and trying to complete her restaurant to-do list!
