Ram-Crusader Cup, Senior Day, and Masella's last game as coach.

It was a tale of two halves at the latest installment of the Ram-Crusader Cup at Jack Coffey Field.

In the first half, after allowing an opening-drive touchdown to Holy Cross, the Rams buckled down on defense, forcing three three-and-outs and allowing only seven more points, on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Taggart to Jon Smith early in the second quarter.

On the offensive side of the ball, Ryan Higgins found Greg Wilson for two long touchdowns of 44 and 40 yards, and Carlton Koonce scored on a six-yard touchdown run as the Rams as Fordham took a 21-14 lead into the locker room.

But the second half was a different story. Midway through the third quarter, Taggart hit Kyle Toulouse for a 71-yard touchdown to tie the game at 21. Taggart would later score on a six-yard keeper to give Holy Cross a 28-21 lead with 10:33 to play in the game.

Crusaders running back Eddie Houghton iced the contest with touchdown runs of 38 and three yards in the last six minutes of the game, as Holy Cross defeated the Rams, 41-21.

The game would be the last of head coach Tom Masella’s tenure, as following the game, he was relieved of his duties by Fordham Executive Athletic Director Frank McLaughlin.
