Bedouine creates the kind of timeless songs that recall today, yesterday, and 1971 — all at the same time.

Born in Aleppo, Syria to Armenian parents, Azniv Korkejian spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia, but a green card lottery win found her family moving to the States. She first lived in Boston and then in Houston. Eventually she made her way to Los Angeles, which is where she calls home now. She chose the name "Bedouine" to reflect the traveler and the wanderer in her.

If you’re thinking this is the stuff of songwriting inspiration, you'd be correct, but Korkejian had a whole other career path going before moving into writing and performing music full-time. We'll find out about that shift and the story behind the title of her brand new album, Bird Songs of a Killjoy, in this gorgeous, full-band performance at Rockwood Music Hall.
