Apples, fresh and rotten

Consumer tech-giant Apple is all set to launch the latest iPhone on Tuesday in Cupertino, California. Rumor has it they may drop a new “smart watch” as well. But while some techies are going wild following the rumor mill, most people seem to not even be able to tell the difference. Like in 2012 when Jimmy Kimmel Live tested people on the street about the “new” iPhone they were holding.

The President gets Sartorial

President Obama wore a tan suit at yesterday’s White House press conference. Seeing Obama in anything other than a dark suit really threw off a lot of political wonks. Luckily, website Fusion posted a history of presidential tan suits. Maybe Obama was just trying to get in his light colors before Labor Day?

Back to School

Today’s the first day back to school from summer break for hundreds of thousands of CUNY students.  The City University of New York system includes 24 schools and is the third biggest higher-ed system in the nation after SUNY and the UC system.  Maybe the next Jonas Salk or Jerry Seinfeld is starting today—all CUNY grads.

NYC takes Home the Emmys

Primetime TV’s biggest awards show was last night, with New York-based shows taking home some big honors.  HBO’s A Normal Heart filmed in New York and won “Outstanding Television Movie.”  Julianna Margulies won “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” for her work in NYC-based The Good Wife.  And NYC-based Louie C.K. won “Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series” for Louie
