From the Vault: Simon and Garfunkel at The Bottom Line 2003

After Simon and Garfunkel broke up in 1970, there was uncertainty as to whether Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel would ever consider reuniting for at least one more album or tour. They did get back together in 1981 for their historic performance in Central Park followed by a tour the next year, but plans to record a new album as a duo again never worked out.
At their 1990 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their relationship appeared to be polite at best. Despite a few more brief reconciliations, it did come as a surprise in September 2003 when I learned that a press conference was being held for them at the New York club The Bottom Line.
I arranged to have FUV cover it live, and as we celebrate Paul Simon as one of our FUV Essentials, here are the musical highlights of the afternoon when Simon and Garfunkel announced their "Old Friends" tour.
