Public Radio Rocks!

We probably don’t need to convince you about the invaluable role public radio plays in supporting music, but you can’t take some things for granted. So WFUV is proud to partner with NPR and other stations across the country as we declare April to be Public Radio Music Month.

The idea is to shine a light on all the ways WFUV and other public radio stations make a difference: discovering emerging artists, embracing the creative paths of established artists, introducing young listeners to diverse forms of music, sorting through the noise to bring audiences the best of what’s out there, connecting a community of fans with what’s happening in the world of music.

Those are things we do year-round, but we’ve got an incredible array of special things on tap for April:

* We’ve invited the very cool L.A.-based group, Everest, to a month-long residency in New York as FUV’s “house band.” They'll be playing throughout the month, starting with an FUV Live broadcast from the Living Room Tuesday, April 3 at 9pm, and among other things they’ll be writing a brand new song over the course of their month in New York.

* We’ll be airing broadcasts of many of our favorite artists, including Norah Jones, Amy Ray, Alabama Shakes, Bonnie Raitt, and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

*  We’ll present a series called The Art of the DJ, focusing on the ways hosts enhance our listening experience by curating and creating a context for the music they play.

There'll be lots more, too, so check out our Public Radio Music Month web page and stay tuned for more details!
