Corinne Bailey Rae's gorgeous third album, The Heart Speaks in Whispers, is a dazzling kaleidoscope of love, light and resurrection. Over the past decade, since the release of her 2006 self-titled debut, Rae has traversed both elated highs and tragic lows in her life, yet her music is never downcast or self-pitying — there's an inner luminosity and resilience to her work that veers more towards hope than despair.

On The Heart Speaks in Whispers, playful tracks like "Green Aphrodiasiac" or "Horse Print Dress" revel in sensuality (the former song also made President Barack Obama's summer playlist) while the wistful "Do You Ever Think of Me?," co-written with Valerie Simpson, presents a longing query that requires no answer.

The Leeds-born Rae, who also played an FUV Live show at Rockwood Music Hall this year, is a dynamic performer too (the long line to see her play a swiftly sold-out Mercury Lounge set earlier this year snaked down Houston Street) and we're thrilled that she's a part of FUV's Holiday Cheer 2016 with Amos Lee & Friends, November 30 at the Beacon Theatre. Some tickets are still available through Ticketmaster or the Beacon Theatre box office — don't miss your chance to see Amos Lee, Corinne Bailey Rae, Lucinda Williams and The Record Company.
