The list of the top 10 new species for 2017 is out, and an ant whose name is drawn from popular modern-day literature is on it. Meet Drogon the ant, named after the fierce black dragon in "Game of Thrones."
The list compiled by the New York state College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse also includes a brilliant pink bush cricket, a tiny spider, a rat that eats both plant and animal matter, a freshwater stingray and a bush tomato that appears to bleed when cut.
Also, an orchid resembling a devil, a millipede with more than 400 legs, an amphibious centipede, and a marine worm that looks a lot like fried pastry.
The new species hail from Asia, North America, South America, Australia and Papua New Guinea.
