One on One with AP College Basketball Writer Jim O’Connell

Jim O’Connell joined Anthony Pucik and me as One on One got ready for college basketball in March.  O’Connell told us which conference he thinks is the toughest and how far Wichita State will go in this year’s national tournament.  He also told us how he has not lost all confidence in Syracuse despite their recent slide and he gave us his pick for who might be a dark horse to bust some brackets this year (here’s a hint: Fordham has played them!).

Fordham began the game with the same defensive intensity that they showed in the second half of their close loss to LaSalle on Saturday.  They went shot for shot with URI down the stretch of first half and went into halftime with a 2-point lead. But, URI went on a run around the ten minute mark of the second half that Fordham couldn't quite answer.

Fordham Suffers Heartbreaking Loss to LaSalle, 64-62

LaSalle's Tyrone Garland forced up a desprate shot from 12-feet out on the left baseline which was deflected in the air by Fordham Senior Branden Frazier. The buzzer sounded at the same time and it seemed like the Rams had come all the way back from 15 point defecit in the first half to send the game to overtime.

As spring training kicks off, Kelly and Matt were joined by ESPN The Magazine senior baseball writer and network contributor Buster Olney to discuss the upcoming baseball season.

First Buster broke down the upcoming seasons for the two New York squads, including an outlook on Masahiro Tanaka for the Yankees and who on the Bronx Bombers might make the biggest impact, and also the eventual call up of Noah Syndergaard of the Mets and Sandy Alderson’s claim that the Amazins could win 90 games.

Marc Berman Weighs in on the Troubles of the Knicks

Kelly and Matt kicked off One on One this week by chatting with Marc Berman, Knicks writer for the New York Post, about the recent Knicks struggles.

Marc talked about the Knicks’ latest home loss to the Warriors and broke down the seemingly disheartened approach New York has been playing with in their recent games.

Marc also gave his take on the struggles of Raymond Felton this season, including Felton’s recent legal troubles, and how that affects his own play and the play of the Knicks.
