New Kid on the Block

When Daniel Murphy was placed on the DL with a right calf injury, not many predicted that 20 year old Dilson Herrera, playing in AA just a few days ago, would be the starting 2nd baseman of the New York Mets this past weekend. Even his own manager admitted that he knew very little about Murphy’s replacement. When Terry Collins was asked what he knew about his newest player, he replied with a smirk, “not much.”

April 18th seems like a very, very long time ago. That was the last time that Ike Davis was a member of the New York Mets. You would think that the former first baseman of the future, the 18th overall pick back in 2008, would be missed by the team that sent him packing earlier this year. But most Met fans have been able to forget about the struggles and disappointments from their once promising prospect Davis. That’s because the Mets put their faith in another big power lefty, and he’s finally starting to show why.

ESPN's Tim Kurkjian Joins One on One

Tim Kurkjian, ESPN baseball analyst, joined the show and immediately addressed Terry Collin’s decision-making in Fridaynight’s Mets game. He also discussed some Yankees worries concerning CC Sabathia’s early struggles, Pineda’s pine tar incident, and the lack of stadium attendance in April. Kurkjian added some unique anecdotes and personal thoughts about the influx of Tommy John Surgery amongst younger pitchers in today’s game, too.
