MSG's Sam Rosen Talks NHL with One on One

Days after the NHL trade deadline, Nolan and Anthony talked with MSG's Sam Rosen, the television voice of the New York Rangers.

First, Sam discussed the what the loss of Ryan Callahan meant to the Rangers and why exactly a deal was not reached. He also talked about Martin St. Louis, what he brings to the Rangers from the Lightning and how New York's offense has improved as a result of him being in the lineup.

The New York Rangers have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL lately. Over their last ten games they are 7-2-1 and are the winners of three in a row after a 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals Sunday night. As a result of their recent winning, they find themselves second in the Metropolitan Division.

The Final Stretch

The hockey scheduling gods have done the New York Rangers a favor, giving them an easy schedule at a crucial time in the hunt for a postseason spot. The Broadway Blue Shirts, with three games left, will take on Florida, Carolina and New Jersey, three teams that have already been eliminated from the playoffs.

The Rangers are in the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference with the Winnipeg Jets three points behind them the final week of the season, but Captain Ryan Callahan refuses to look in the rear view mirror.

Reflecting on the Winter Classic

It was quite a spectacle. Not just that Citizens Bank Park, the home of the Phillies, became engulfed in orange and black, nor simply that a baseball stadium became undistinguishable, transforming into a hockey venue. No, it was the fact that the Winter Classic, for one day, made hockey the most exciting sport in the world: a clashing of rivals, connections with unpopular players, and an intense understanding and appreciation of the “fourth sport” in America.
