Steve Coburn Confident in California Chrome

Horse's co-owner looks ahead to potential Triple Crown.

As California Chrome looks to become the first horse to capture the Triple Crown in 36 years, it is clear that his connections have a positive outlook on Saturday’s race.  Co-owner Steve Coburn has maintained an optimistic attitude since the Preakness and is going full speed ahead into Belmont.

Coburn does not just hope his horse wins- he expects him to. “Yes, I expect him to win. He’s putting on weight, he’s putting on size, he’s putting on muscle,” stated Coburn confidently.

No horse has ever won the Triple Crown over more than 7 horses at the Belmont; there are 11 in Saturday’s field. Additionally, he would be the first California-bred horse to capture the Triple Crown.  Regardless of any statistics against his horse, Coburn believes California Chrome will prevail over competition that “decided to show up later on” in the Derby and the Preakness.
