The Seahawks are getting ready to create havoc for Peyton Manning
In their road game jerseys for the second day in a row, the Seattle Seahawks were giddy talking about what Coach Carroll calls ‘Turnover Thursday”.
The object of Thursday’s practice for the defense is to create as many turnovers as possible. Over on the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Russell Wilson says he calls Thursday practices, “No Turnover Thursdays”. Linebacker Bobby Wagner said “Our offense has only won one time this season, we are going to go out, win today and that will ultimately result in us winning on Sunday.” That must explain why the Seahawks have the number one defense in the NFL.
Safety Earl Thomas reiterated that Seattle will be ready to go on Sunday, despite the fact no one on their roster has Super Bowl experience, “Football is football, and we understand how to win. We know ourselves as football players and when you know yourself as a person or a football player, you are comfortable in any environment.” Thomas also pointed out that Pete Carroll is comfortable in his own skin and the team feeds off of their leader, “You see Coach Carroll walking with a little limp walk and some swag for the cameras, he’s comfortable in his own skin.” The Seahawks are certainly not a team lacking in confidence or swagger. Their superior talent definitely overshadows their lack of experience.
Today’s practice for Seattle will feel like a game, according to Russell Wilson. Wilson said, “Our advantage is in the way we prepare, we still do everything full speed, and it’s late in the season.” Linebacker Cliff Avril gave more insight to the Seahawks practices during the week. Fridays are called “No Repeat Friday” and Avril said, “You have to be on your p’s and q’s, you can’t repeat plays, guys have to be on point as far as the mental part of the game. At that point, it’s more mental than physical.”
Their championship mindset is something that has propelled them to this point. The Seahawks are playing in the Super Bowl because they have extreme confidence in their abilities. Their preparation coupled with their talent makes for a combination that the Broncos will have a hard time stopping on Sunday.
