Sandy Alderson hints at being more acquisitive before 2014
When the Mets have made trades recently, it hasn't been to build the major league roster. Instead, the Mets have tried to build their farm system by selling off their best pieces to the highest bidder. That trend may change sooner rather than later.
New York's general manager Sandy Alderson hinted as much in a statement he made this week.
"I do believe that over the next six months or so we will be in position to make some significant acquisitions, whether it's through free agency or trade. We're certainly looking forward to that possibility."
So is the Mets GM just trying to excite a dejected fan base or will he be seeking a "significant" acquisition before the calandar turns to 2014?
