WFUV Reports from Mets and Yankees Camp
You'll never see 'Nick Swisher' and 'introvert' in the same sentence. Swisher, who is entering his fourth season with the New York Yankees, is one of the most gregarious players in the major leagues, and definitely the 'loudest' Yankee.
Swisher came into spring training 15 pounds lighter, as he is looking to have a big year in his walk year, as he will be a free agent following the season. John asked him what he has to do to get off to a better start --- he only hit .213 in the first two months of 2011 before hitting .283 the rest of the way to finish at .260. John also asked him what the team has to do to get off to a good start.
Finally, Swisher gave his thought on the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he played college baseball before being drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2002. The Buckeyes are a #2 seed in the East Region and take on Cincinnati in the Sweet 16.
In Mets camp, Jason Bay looks to return to the form he was in with the Red Sox in 2009. After hitting 36 homers in that season, he's 18 since in two years with the Mets. Bay started getting back to that performance in September when he hit .313 with 3 HR.
Amit and Jason discussed new adjustments to Bay's batting stance, what affect the new walls in Cit Field will have on his results, and the expectations for the team this season.
