Jack Coffey Field was silent a mere two weeks ago when starting quarterback Michael Nebrich left the Bucknell game with a knee injury. Today, the Fordham fans cheered once again as he returned to the field. The Rams fell last week without Nebrich, but the offense took off with his return, marching 65 yards in under two minutes to give Fordham an early 7-0 lead this afternoon.

They would not look back.

Fordham scored four touchdowns on their first four drives of the game, and when all was said and done, the team racked up 8 trips to the endzone.

The Rams' quest for the undefeated season fell short in a 24-7 loss against Lafayette. The Leopards jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. In a game that had 9 turnovers between the teams, Fordham never could capitalize on the turnovers. The Rams also had 8 penalties, which slowed down their offense. The Leopards dominated many aspects of the game including time of possession, holding the ball for almost 35 minutes. The team also racked up 245 yards on the ground.

Today’s game was not for the faint of heart. Fordham saw their 17-7 lead in the 3rd quarter disappear right before their eyes, as Bucknell went up 21-17 as the third came to a close. But the Rams rallied back, thanks to a Mike Marando field goal, to give them a 23-21 lead with eight minutes to play. It was a long eight minutes as the final 60 seconds alone featured turnovers, penalties and a blocked field goal, but Fordham hung on for the victory.
