AD talks Block F, Basketball Recruiting, Program Marketing
As the academic year heads towards the home stretch, the Fordham athletic season also heads toward the finish line. As is the case every month, Fordham Athletic Director David Roach stopped by the WFUV studios to talk all things Fordham sports.
The conversation starts with a talk about Fordham’s 79th annual Block F Awards Dinner, which celebrates the crème of the crop when it comes to Fordham Athletes. The big winners of the night were swimmer Brienne Ryan and Marah Strickland (who were both named Female Athlete of the Year with the Hobbs Award) and Patrick Murray, who added Male Athlete of the Year (Lombardi Award) to his already illustrious résumé. Roach and I spoke about what all three athletes brought to Fordham.
After talking about the summer plans for Fordham athletics, we switched to men’s basketball, hitting on the signing of recruit Jon Severe, along with the rest of the recruiting class, and what kind of turnaround we could see from the team next year.
Roach and I also spoke about how critical the marketing of Fordham athletics will be in the upcoming years. Roach brought up a new marketing company that has been brought in, and how a TV deal could soon be in the works.
