New York’s Mr. Basketball is Headed to the Bronx
The Fordham Rams Men’s Basketball program has won just eight games in the Atlantic 10 over the past five seasons. Those struggles could finally be coming to an end as Christ the King High School sensation Jon Severe will be wearing a Fordham jersey next season. The 6’2 guard from Brooklyn is head coach Tom Pecora’s biggest recruiting splash since taking the job three years ago.
Pecora joined Chris Marasco and me to discuss the process of landing Severe, the impact of players transferring and the future of Fordham basketball. The former Hofstra coach believes that Severe’s signing could change the program not only on the floor but more importantly on the recruiting path.
Fordham’s loyalty to Severe is one of the main reasons why the Rams were able to sign the guard. Additionally Coach Pecora told us that the significance of Fordham University degree was a major factor in Severe’s choice. The Brooklyn native had offers from the likes of Kansas State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Alabama, but decided to stay close to home.
