Balanced Saint Louis Attack Too Much For Fordham
Entering Wednesday night’s contest with Saint Louis, Fordham had a respectable home record of 4-3 compared to a dismal 0-11 mark in true road games. Many fans probably hoped the home court advantage would aid the Rams against Saint Louis, but that was not the case. The Billikens demolished Fordham 90-73 in a game that they controlled from start to finish.
In conference play this season, the Billikens have five players averaging double digits in points per game. Their balanced attack was on display at the Rose Hill Gym, as 3 players finished in double figures. The Billikens were led in the first half by senior Cody Ellis, who had 17 of his 22 points before intermission. In the second half, Dwayne Evans was their go-to man. He finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Rams, freshman Mandell Thomas was superb yet again, scoring a career high 22 points. Thomas has been the Rams’ best player as of late, notching the A10 Rookie of the Week Award last week. Also of note, junior Branden Frazier struggled, but still managed to record his 1000th career point in a Fordham uniform.
Up next for the Rams, a trip to the city of brotherly love to face off with the LaSalle Explorers. Tip-off on Saturday will be 2pm, but we’ll be on with an extended One on One pre-game report starting at 1 pm on 90.7 and WFUVSports.org.
