Perhaps you haven’t heard, but this Sunday, February 9, is the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." Seventy-three million Americans watched that night, slightly more than will be tuned into Mixed Bag this afternoon.
As it happens, today is also the start of WFUV’s Winter Drive. If we had 73 million listeners, we could get by with a one dollar contribution from everyone. Alas, our numbers are not quite that good. Hope you can listen; hope that you’ll pledge either online or by calling 877-938-8907. Thanks!
Pete Seeger visited Pete Fornatale on "Mixed Bag" on three separate occasions throughout the years. Today on Mixed Bag, beginning at 4 today, we’ll listen to excerpts from each interview. Expect great conversation between Pete and Pete and, of course, some great music, too.
Please join me, Don McGee, with Mixed Bag between 4-8 p.m. today. A small disruption this week due to the Fordham men's basketball broadcast—we’ll be on the radio only between 4 and 6:55 p.m. As of 6:55 p.m., "Mixed Bag" will be available online only.
Looking for a warm soundtrack for this cold January day? Join me, Don McGee, for Mixed Bag this afternoon at 4 as we explore old favorites, new finds and other sundry songs.
Join Don McGee for another eclectic edition of Mixed Bag today between 4 and 8 p.m. To borrow from the Beatles: "Having been some days in preparation, a splendid time is guaranteed for all."
As Bob Dylan pointed out, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. However, weathermen — and women — say that we could be in for a lot of rain today. So why not take shelter from the storm and enjoy "Mixed Bag" with Don McGee between 4 and 8pm on this soggy Saturday?
And if the forecast changes, we think you'll still enjoy the music.
