The New Jersey-based group Clean Ocean Action will be joined by other marine advocacy groups.

Environmental groups will gather in Cape May, N.J., on Friday to start a two-week "Tour for the Shore" ending in Montauk, N.Y., to raise awareness about ocean pollution.

The New Jersey-based group Clean Ocean Action will be joined by other marine advocacy groups in the 230-mile trip and campaign to highlight threats to the health of the ocean.

The "Tour for the Shore" will be led by one participant traveling the shoreline by outrigger canoe and a second by bike with the hope supporters will join them along parts of the route.

The organizers say they want to generate support for the creation of a clean ocean zone to lock in environmental protections.
