Duchess of Cambridge Visits Harlem Child Development Center

Duchess Catherine and NYC's First Lady Chirlane McCray spent the morning at Harlem's Northside Center for Child Development.

Duchess Kate and New York City's first lady, Chirlane McCray, constructed holiday crafts and wrapped presents with young students at the Northside Center for Child Development.

Northside is a Harlem organization that provides after-school programs, therapy, and other services to about 3,300 families each year.  Northside's Nina Fenton says she hopes the publicity surrounding the visit will call attention to a more serious issue:

"The issues and challenges of mental health, and [that mental health exists] in children in the most vulnerable communities -- not just in New York City -- but that it's a global issue," she said.

The Duke and Duchess are in the U.S. for three days.  The remainder of their trip will partly be devoted to discussing conservation and eduation issues.
