Two Brooklyn lawmakers are suing the MTA for bus service reductions affecting their districts.

City Councilman Vincent Gentile said the cuts especially affect Southwest Brooklyn's large population of senior citizens and disabled individuals.

Gentile said, "People who live in the Bay Ridge Towers no longer have any access to public transportation without walking at least six blocks, long blocks to get to the nearest public transportation. They are stuck.  That's a senior residence and come this winter it's going to be a hardship."

The MTA wasn't immediately available for comment, but the agency has said in the past the cuts were necessary to close its budget deficit.
