A Lower Manhattan community board is creating a human chain in Battery Park.

The human chain will begin in Battery Park at 8:46 am on September 10th.  Anyone is welcome to the event, but pre-registration is required.

Chair of Community Board 1, Julie Menin, said "It's a way by holding hands, either with friends, neighbors, colleagues or strangers, to really show the unity that existed after 9/11 and to both reflect and remember."

After the hand holding ceremony, participants can post a message on a Wall of Remembrance in Battery Park. Parts of the wall will be displayed at the 9/11 Memorial Museum. There are also organized community service projects being organized in the area.
