To balance the budget, lawmakers resorted to billions in cuts.
New York State finalized its budget early Thursday morning, and now state agencies, cities, and non-profits are starting to sort out the billions of dollars in cuts.
One of those non-profits, Young Audiences New York, provides arts programs in New York City public schools. Much of their funding comes from state and city government, and they're concerned they could lose some of it.
"We always sit here with our fingers crossed, and at the same time, we continue to innovate and look for a diversification of funding resources," said Thomas Heymann, executive director of Young Audiences New York.
