US and Cuba to Reestablish Diplomacy

by Rob Palazzolo

Nigel Pacquette

The United States and Cuba are set to reestablish diplomatic relations for the first time since the height of the Cold War.

President Obama announced that the two nations will have official diplomatic ties for the first time since 1961. He said business and travel restrictions will also be loosened. The President said the agreement is long overdue.

"Change is hard," said President Obama. "And change is even harder when we have the weight of history on our shoulders."
