Jones Beach Holiday Lights Spectacular Returns

With Governor Cuomo's $65 million Jones Beach Revitalization Plan underway, a popular holiday tradition can return.
The Holiday Lights Spectacular is returning to Long Island's Jones Beach this week after a seven year hiatus.

Economic hardship caused the spectacle to end its seven-year run at Jones Beach in 2007. But George Gorman with New York State Parks says it's coming back to life now that the state's giving Jones Beach a multi-million dollar makeover.

Gorman says reviving the tradition will be a much-needed boost for business.

"It draws tourists from outside the New York Metropolitan area," he said.  "And it had been an event Long Islanders and people inside the metropolitan area enjoyed every year."

Gorman says the event will feature more than 1 million lights on display, as well as a special Holiday Village, where guests can purchase refreshments and photographs with Santa.

The Holiday Spectacular runs from November 20 to January 4.  Check out the event website for a ticket prices, schedules, and a full list of activities.
