"Friends" Coffee Shop Energizes Fans

The Central Perk coffee shop celebrates the show's 20th anniversary.

Fans of the Emmy Award winning TV show Friends waited in line for hours to get into a Manhattan pop up shop called Central Perk. The coffee shop aims to be the ultimate fan experience by creating a replica of the fictional group's hangout.

Even though the show premiered 20 years ago, it is still popular because it deals with problems that are unique to New Yorkers. Hundreds of fans from all over began to line up at 6:00 in the morning and by Noon the line was four blocks long.

Jason John of Westchester was too young to watch the show when it first aired, but he says he fell in love after watching reruns.

"I think its the dream...a bunch of friends just getting together and going to New York. What made it such a great show was each character had their own story. A lot of shows there's a main character but here everyone is a main character," John said.

Fans can visit the pop up shop to see props from the show and get a free cup of coffee from now until October 18th.
