Details
The engaging actor and writer Stephen Fry uses his trademark wit and enthusiasm to investigate the music of composer Richard Wagner. Fry, a Jew who lost family members in the Holocaust, explores landmarks from Wagner’s life—even, to his great pleasure, going behind the scenes in the composer’s custom-built concert hall at the Bayreuth Festival—as he attempts to reconcile the glorious music with its associations with the Nazis and anti-Semitism.
This screening is the first in the series Masters of German Culture, featuring films about renowned German artists across a variety of disciplines.
