Trump at a Campaign Event in 2016

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee claimed he had raised six million dollars for veterans at a rally in Iowa earlier this year.  But up until now, there was no public documentation showing how much went to which charities.  Trump says that's because he didn't think anyone needed to know.

"I wanted to keep it private, if we could, I wanted to keep it private because I don't think it's anyone's business."

In the end, Trump says he raised 5 point 6 million dollars and distributed it to 41 veterans groups in amounts ranging from $25,000 to $1.1 million.

Marine Corp veteran Jake Maier protested outside Trump Tower after the announcement. He says no matter how much money Trump raises, he'll never back his campaign.

"I believed that he lied about the funds he raised.  He lied about where they were going.  And he used that fake support for veterans as props.  He used us so that he can push us as supporters of his hateful agenda."

In the past, Trump has said he supports veterans and would rebuild the military if elected president.
