Steven A. Clark at WFUV

Miami-based artist Steven A. Clark may not have been around for the '80s, but he developed a passion for albums of that era, especially for the music of Peter Gabriel. Building on Gabriel, his biggest inspiration, as well as the Neptunes and N.E.R.D, and a love of hip-hop, Clark went from being voted "Most Quiet" in his high school yearbook to finding his voice as a songwriter.

Growing up as a self-described “Air Force brat” in a small, military town in North Carolina, Clark's childhood wasn’t exactly full of art and culture. Always a quiet kid, he moved to New Jersey with his mom as a young teen and, like so many of us, discovered solace in music. It wasn’t until college that Clark's own talent began to blossom, but as you’ll hear via this FUV Live session, his passion helped him overcome the odds and grow into a gifted artist.

Clark's autobiographical new album, The Lonely Roller, is his cinematic label debut. On FUV Live, he joins us to share a couple songs from the new album and his inspiring story.
