Sam Cohen at WFUV

Even if you don't know the name Sam Cohen, chances are that you've heard him. If not with Cohen's bands Yellowbirds or Apollo Sunshine, you've likely heard his contributions to other artists' albums, like Norah Jones and Joseph Arthur. Most recently, he was part of the house band with members of The National on their new Grateful Dead compilation, Day of the Dead.

Perhaps you've heard Cohen's production skills on the recent Kevin Morby album. Or you attended one of his all-star tributes to The Band, The Complete Last Waltz concerts, which he has directed over the past few years. Suffice it to say, this Brooklyn-based artist is prolific. In recent years, he has been in demand as a multi-talented artist and collaborator. He's finally put an album out under his own name, titled Cool It, which was released on Danger Mouse's new label, 30th Century Records.

Not long ago, Sam Cohen took time out of his busy schedule to join us in Studio A to tell us about all the various projects he's had his hands in—and he played us a couple of his new songs too.
