Richard Barone, lead singer of the beloved '80s band The Bongos, is a 30-year denizen of Greenwich Village. On his new album, Sorrows & Promises: Greenwich Village in the 1960s, he pays tribute to the neighborhood that incubated folk, rock, and the birth of singer-songwriters.

Some of the songwriters he covers, such as Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, and Tim Hardin, are to be expected, but some, such as Buddy Holly and Dion, are less so.

In this session he performs a couple of songs from the album, accompanied by its producer Steve Addabo, who also performs a song from his his own new collection, Out of Nothing.
