Meet the Westminster Dog Show's Two New Pups

The Coton de Tulear and the Wirehaired Vizsla make their grand debut in 2015.

In the world of dog shows, the competition just got tougher. The Westminster Kennel Club is introducing two new breeds this year. They're called the Coton de Tulear and Wirehaired Vizsla, and they're the two freshest faces among the show's 192 competing canines.

"Coton means cotton, and you can look at it's coat and see a bit of a cotton swab there," says Westminster show cohost David Frei. "They're a small dog, a lap dog, great with kids, do the kinds of things you typically would expect a toy dog to do."

Now, as for the Wirehaired Vizsla, it's been crossbred for years to create it's distinctive wirey coat.

"It provides them with a mustache, and a beard, and some eyebrows and kind of a wirey coat that protects them from the elements as a hunting dog," Frei says.

The show airs February 16 and 17, 2015. Tickets go on sale October 15.
