Now three decades into a storied career, The Jayhawks have held a revered place in the hearts and minds of both fans and musicians. Inevitable lineup changes, big and small, have played a role in their history and led to variations in sound. From the alt-country genre the Minneapolis band helped to create to their harmony-laden '60s and '70s pop-inspired gems, the one constant has been founding member Gary Louris. He continues to lead The Jayhawks into the future.

Currently, the band includes much of its original lineup (with the exception of Mark Olson, who rejoined them briefly on their last album, Mockingbird Time). The latest chapter of their evolution is their excellent ninth studio effort, Paging Mr. Proust. Its release gave us the opportunity to welcome The Jayhawks back to Studio A for a wonderful live set and a conversation with Gary Louris.
