At The Drive-In

Fans of the hard rocking At The Drive-In, defunct since 2001, have a good reason to toast the new year. The band, via their website and a mysterious tweet, has announced its return after an 11-year hiatus.

The banner atop At The Drive-In's website declares: "Attention! To whom it may concern: At The Drive-In will be breaking their 11-year silence. This station is ... now ... operational." A red-hued photo of a boombox is splashed across the site.

In addition, they tweeted the message, via the account they launched last fall.

There has been discussion of the band's reconciliation since 2009. Frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López formed The Mars Volta in the wake of At The Drive-In's tumultuous end ... which apparently seems to have been just a long, long hiatus.
