Angelique

A light mist drifted in the air as Angélique Kidjo and her band took to the Rainbow Stage on the first day of this year's Clearwater Festival. Adorned in a festive, red headdress, Angélique and didn’t let the gray skies dampen the mood as she quickly had the Clearwater faithful dancing to selections like “Malaika” (from her 1991 album Logozo), “Tumba” (from 2002’s Black Ivory Soul) and “Bomba” (from last year’s Eve), all of which you can hear below.

At one point, Angélique delighted the audience when she left the stage and strolled into the crowd. Her uplifting set was the perfect way to kick off the 2015 festival and it proved that no amount of rain was going ruin the Clearwater spirit.
