A strawberry. Hint.

1966--THE pivotal pop music year.  So--Beatles, Stones, Dylan, or Beach Boys?

50 years ago this week, The Beatles re-convened at EMI studios to work on a new song after an unprecedented 5 month break from recording. "Strawberry Fields Forever" was born, the sessions that would evolve over the coming months into Sgt. Pepper began, and a new musical era dawned. But not without precedent. The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds (and the single "Good Vibrations") The Rolling Stones' Aftermath, and Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde all beat a new path in 1966, as did The Beatles own album release that summer, Revolver.

With a half-century of hindsight, let's weigh in on the influence of each.  I'll play the groundbreaking songs from each and welcome your comments on this fascinating chapter in music history.
