On Your Radar: Jack's Waterfall, Suzie Vinnick & Jon Vezner

by John Platt
A A

On October 8th On Your Radar presented the sweet triple bill of Jack's Waterfall, Suzie Vinnick, and Jon Vezner at Rockwood Music Hall.

Jack Licitra is a Long Island-based singer, songwriter and musician. For the past 15 years he's performed as Jack's Waterfall, bringing together an eclectic mix of musical genres and musicians, along with a belief in the healing power of music, which you can hear in his song, "Soul's Own Speech." Joining him onstage were some old friends with impressive credentials: Patrick Falco on bass, Andy Falco (of the Infamous Stringdusters) on guitar, and Jim Chirco (of the Zen Tricksters) on percussion.

Suzie Vinnick is a Canadian folk and blues singer-songwriter with a powerful voice and great guitar chops, who's been nominated for a slew of Junos and other awards. At Rockwood she treated us to some sizzling covers, as well as this beautiful original ballad, "Drift Away.".

Jon Vezner is one of Nashville's most sought-after songwriters, but also a fine singer. His songs have been recorded by the likes of Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Janis Ian,John Mellencamp, Reba McEntire, Kathy Mattea,(who had a hit with his Grammy winner, "Where've You Been?"), and Nanci Griffith, who recorded "This Old Town," the song Jon performed at Rockwood, accompanied by Jeff Gilkinson on cello.

Join us for our next On Your Radar: Tuesday, November 12 (11/12/13!) from 7-9 pm with The Levins, Melissa Greener, and Moors & McCumber at Rockwood Music Hall, 196 Allen St. in NYC.
