It was Three Dog Night who had a hit with "Easy to Be Hard," but I find this version to be devastating. It's from the 1979 film Hair (based on the Broadway musical) in which Lafayette is confronted by his fiancée, played by Cheryl Barnes. The little boy with the tear running down his cheek seals the deal.
