Vin Scelsa's "Idiot's Delight" For August 16

Have a map of the U.S. handy tonight for Vin Scelsa's "Idiot's Delight"® at 8. Most of the show is given over to songs which mirror the lyrical journey suggested by the old (1946) song "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66," composed by Bobby Troup. That now mostly-mythical American highway ran from Chicago to L.A., with shout-outs to St. Louis, Joplin, Oklahoma City, Gallup, Flagstaff, Winona and more. Plus, Vin will also have new music from the Psycho Sisters (old friends Susan Cowsill and Vickie Peterson) and Denmark's haunting, piano-centric Agnes Obel.

That's Vin Scelsa's "Idiot's Delight"®, Saturdays from 8-10 p.m. on 90.7FM, also streaming online.

Out enjoying this autumnal August evening? Well, you can find "Idiot's Delight"® in the FUV archives for two weeks after broadcast.
