UKNY For September 14: Temples, Blaenavon, Zero 7 And More

by Kara Manning

This is the last full weekend of summer — deep sigh — and tonight on UKNY at 11, some of Britain's most intriguing new fall releases from just-emerging bands like Temples, Blaenavon and Flyte.  Also, the veteran duo Zero 7 returns after a four-year hiatus with a fresh sound and new vocalists.

The Commonwealth Cut is in Ontario, Canada for slinky Jessy Lanza and since the 2013 Barclaycard Mercury Prize was announced earlier this week, expect a couple of nominees in the mix.

Join me for UKNY Saturday nights at 11 following Vin Scelsa's "Idiot's Delight"® and Marshall Crenshaw's "The Bottomless Pit" on 90.7 WFUV, also streaming online.

Missed the show? You can find UKNY in the FUV archives for two weeks after broadcast.

1. Flyte, "Over and Out," Live EP
2. Temples, "Keep in the Dark," single
