On tonight's mostly encore presentation of UKNY at 11, we'll revisit the music of the twelve shortlisted nominees of last year's Barclaycard Mercury Prize, which was won by James Blake (pictured) for his second album, Overgrown. A prestigious, but also controversial award (as many awards for the arts can be), the Mercury Prize is handed out to a British or Irish artist each year. This evening, we'll hear stellar songs from 2013 nominees like David Bowie, Jon Hopkins, Laura Marling, Foals, Disclosure and more.
Please join me for UKNY, Saturday nights at 11p.m. EST, following Vin Scelsa's "Idiot's Delight"® and Marshall Crenshaw's "The Bottomless Pit" on 90.7 WFUV, also streaming online.
Caught a bad cold like me and crawling into bed early? You can find UKNY in the FUV archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
