Peek through the clouds for Rita Houston's first day of Bonnaroo.

Greetings from Bonnaroo! It's the happiest music place on earth.

This is where Lionel Richie and Elton John play alongside Phoenix and Damon Albarn. And where newcomers like The Lone Bellow, Lake Street Dive and The Wild Feathers can really get a big break and play in front of a huge crowd. And this weekend, this is the place where everyone is asking "Is Kim Kardashian here?!" (ok, well, maybe not everyone.)

It's the combination of brand new artists, legends and curveballs that Bonnaroo is known for, and that's what keeps me coming back.

Highlights for me so far include newcomers James Bay and The Wild Feathers. Keep an ear out for new UK rock band Catfish and the Bottlemen, and retro-rocking J. Roddy and the Business. Persian Omar Souleyman was the wildcard show last night, an artist who seldoms comes to the US and whose music is so powerful, sexy and worldly it is undeniable. The Minneapolis collective Poliça brought more sultry sounds.

Ahead for us today: Phoenix, Frank Ocean, Sam Smith, Disclosure and more. Also join me and Alisa live from backstage at Bonnaroo tonight starting at 7p. We expect a few guests to pop by and we'll share more sights and sounds.
