Florence and The Machine's debut album is called Lungs and it's apparent that singer Florence Welch has quite a pair of them. In her teens she fronted hardcore bands that were influenced by Courtney Love and Green Day, but now, at age 23, Welch's love of Annie Lennox, Candi Staton, and Etta James is starting to become apparent.

An even earlier, Disney-related musical influence came up in conversation when Florence Welch joined me in Studio A, along with her Otis Redding Guest DJ pick and answers to the "WFUV Pop Quiz." But of course, the live performances stood out most, with Florence and guitarist Robert Ackroyd treating us to these songs from Lungs in acoustic form: "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)," "Kiss With a Fist," "Cosmic Love" and "You’ve Got The Love."
