World Party

World Party - Live Concert - 2012

by Rita Houston
Laura Fedele

World Party has created some of the most melodic and meaningful songs since their start in 1986, and in this FUV Live broadcast from City Winery many of their best ones come to life. Karl Wallinger, backed by a duo of violin and guitar, was in great voice and chipper spirits. Joking with the crowd between songs and treating us to a set list of classics including "Put the Message in the Box," "Ship of Fools," "Is It Like Today" and my fave, "Sweet Soul Dream."

Karl Wallinger - Words and Music - 2012

by Rita Houston

Karl Wallinger has had a long and (mostly) enviable career -- first with The Waterboys, and since the late 80s as the mastermind behind the alt-pop wonderband, World Party. After a health scare, Karl has now mined the band's 25-year history to put together a gorgeous, 5-disc, 70-song collection from World Party, called 'Arkeology', and he came by FUV to discuss it with host Rita Houston.
